Open Source is a great way to resist backdoored software but it needs more love! You don't have to be a programmer to help. Improving documentation and other things is a completely valid way to contribute.
By contributing you make things better but also you're improving your skills and increasing your reputation which may be invaluable when searching for a job. It can be a way to meet new people, learn from them and have fun together.
You will be guided through the whole process of contributing to Open Source by a person who has several years of experience. Together we will make the Open Source world a bit better. Even a small amount counts.
Please bring a laptop. To make things quicker try to think if there's something in an Open Source project you use that you find annoying or wrong. Maybe it's a typo or a trivial bug. Check if the code is hosted on GitHub, GitLab or any other platform and make sure to create an account on the platform.
